Demand for apartment living continues to rise in Clayton South

13 February 2019

ASX300 listed property developer Cedar Woods Properties has today announced the expansion of its Jackson Green development in Clayton South with the launch of the new architecturally designed Huntington Apartments.

Catering to growing demand for apartment living in the south eastern suburbs, Huntington Apartments is already experiencing strong interest from purchasers, with over 26 per cent already sold since the sales launch at the start of February 2019.

According to a Council report, the municipality’s population is estimated to grow by 24,000 people over the next 15 years, with apartments expected to make up 16 per cent of homes in Kingston by 2031. This is a relatively new trend in the area, with buyers increasingly attracted to the lifestyle associated with apartment living, such as low maintenance homes, modern-style living and established amenities.

To date, the masterplanned Jackson Green community encompasses 150 town homes, the Wattle Apartments, completed earlier in 2018, and the Gardenia Apartments, currently under construction – all of which sold out quickly, prior to completion.

Huntington Apartments will be the largest apartment development in Jackson Green to date, and will feature 165 residences across two buildings with a variety of apartment sizes, colour palettes and floorplans available to purchasers.

The Huntington Apartments are designed by DKO Architecture and will consist of a collection of one, two and three bedroom apartments, which range in size from 52 square metres to 101 square metres.

The development will feature a rooftop garden and BBQ area, offering panoramic views of both the city and suburbs. At nine storeys high, Huntington Apartments will stand tall on Centre Road in the heart of Jackson Green.

In keeping with the shift towards creating communities through apartment developments, Huntington Apartments will also feature other common areas and facilities such as a gymnasium and landscaped podium courtyard connecting the two buildings.

“As high rise living becomes more popular, it’s important that we think about the community element in the design. Therefore, we’ve incorporated a number of communal areas and facilities for residents to replace the traditional suburban garden and act as an extension to the home,” says Cedar Woods State Manager Lloyd Collins.

“We are already experiencing strong demand for these apartments due to the growing popularity of apartment living in the south east and proximity to Monash University. A tight rental market, with vacancy rates currently sitting at 1.9 per cent, points towards high demand and strong rental return for investors,” adds Collins.

Jackson Green is well serviced by existing infrastructure such as Monash University, Monash Medical Centre, Clayton Shopping Centre, two train stations, cafes, restaurants, hospitals, golf courses and some of Melbourne’s best recreational trails.

The Jackson Green community is on the doorstep of the Monash Employment Cluster, which boasts the largest concentration of jobs outside of the Melbourne CBD and includes employment hubs such as the Monash Medical Centre and Monash University.

“The area is popular with owner-occupiers and tenants who are both attracted to a low-maintenance lifestyle that is close to employment opportunities and amenities in the middle-ring south eastern suburbs,” says Collins.

Residents will also be able to enjoy the new Clayton Road community space along the elevated rail developed by the Level Crossing Removal Authority, which forms part of the linear park and a 17-kilometre walking and cycling path.

Jackson Green’s Huntington Apartments are due for completion in mid 2020.
