Cedar Woods Unveils Verde Subiaco Following WAPC Approval
The Western Australian Planning Commission (WAPC) has approved Cedar Woods’ proposed Upham Street development in Subiaco, supporting the delivery of much-needed new housing within Perth’s constrained market.
Cedar Woods Managing Director Nathan Blackburne said the approval marks an important milestone for the project.
“I am thrilled to unveil our new project, Verde Subiaco, which will deliver over 200 high-quality apartments over three buildings in one of Perth’s most sought-after locations just five kilometres from the Perth CBD,” Mr Blackburne said.
The name reflects the development’s connection to neighbouring Subiaco Common and the area’s natural landscape. Plans include landscaped parkland along Upham Street, retention of mature gum trees along Bishop Street and a resident pavilion as a central design feature.
“With Perth’s population continuing to grow and REIWA forecasting a 15 to 20 per cent increase in median unit prices, well-located apartments like Verde Subiaco will play an increasingly important role in the city’s housing mix and bringing forward much needed supply,” Mr Blackburne said.
The first building at Verde Subiaco will comprise a collection of one, two and three bedroom apartments, alongside premium penthouses, designed to appeal to professionals and downsizers seeking proximity to the CBD, transport connections and established amenity.
Residents will have access to a suite of resort-style amenities, including a swimming pool, communal dining and lounge spaces, a landscaped resident garden and a ground-floor café, open to both residents and the public.
Mr Blackburne said the project builds on Cedar Woods’ success in Subiaco.
“We are seeing renewed momentum in the apartment sector, with strong demand for Subiaco apartments evident at our neighbouring Incontro project. More than 80 per cent of residences have sold and construction is well underway with completion expected in mid-2027,” he said.
Verde Subiaco will be delivered in partnership with Tokyo Gas Real Estate Australia, marking the fourth collaboration between the two groups nationally.
