Hume Anglican Grammar to open new campus in Wollert

Cedar Woods Properties and AVID Property Group (AVID) have announced the sale of a 10-hectare parcel of land within their Mason Quarter and Lyndarum North communities in Wollert to Hume Anglican Grammar, paving the way for the school’s fourth campus in Melbourne’s north.

The strategically located site, Melbourne’s largest designated non-government school parcel, was offered through an Expression of Interest process managed by RPM Group and attracted strong interest from several independent and faith-based schools.

Hume Anglican Grammar was selected for its reputation for academic excellence, focus on student wellbeing, affordability and open enrolment policy. These values align with both developers’ commitment to supporting Wollert’s growing and culturally diverse community.

Wollert’s population is expected to reach around 35,000 residents by 2041, with a school-aged catchment area of more than 60,000 children, underscoring the importance of expanding local education options.

“We’re delighted to welcome Hume Anglican Grammar to Mason Quarter to provide families with convenient access to high-quality education. The school’s vision aligns with our commitment to creating thriving, well-connected communities, and we’re proud to support the long-term educational and community-building opportunities this campus will bring to Wollert and the broader region.”

AVID General Manager Victoria, Penny Forrest, said the new school would play a vital role in strengthening the suburb’s sense of community. “AVID’s support of Hume Anglican Grammar school’s new Wollert campus is grounded in our dedication to building the highest quality communities with connectivity and community spirit at their core. The ongoing partnership between Hume Grammar, Lyndarum North and our neighbours at Mason Quarter will be a major benefit to our residents, and we are thrilled to be part of an exciting new chapter for the region.”

Hume Anglican Grammar Principal, Bill Sweeney, said the new campus reflects the school’s ongoing growth and commitment to providing accessible, values-based education. "We are proud to be opening our fourth campus at Wollert, extending our reach and reaffirming our commitment to providing affordable, values-driven education. This new campus allows us further to enrich our educational offerings and support more local families with high-quality private schooling. Partnering with Cedar Woods and AVID, who both share our focus on building strong, resilient communities, ensures Wollert will be a thriving environment where students can excel academically while living the values that define our school."

According to RPM Group National Strategy Manager, Tim Hyland, the strong response to the campaign highlighted the demand for new educational facilities in Melbourne’s northern growth corridor.

Hume Anglican Grammar is one of Victoria’s fastest-growing private schools, recording a 17.1 per cent increase in enrolments in 2024, with nearly 400 new students joining the school last year.

The new campus will be located close to the proposed East Wollert Sports Reserve, Wollert Major Town Centre and future Wollert Train Station, providing families with excellent access to education, recreation and transport links.

Construction is expected to commence in 2032, with the school anticipated to open in 2033 and grow into a Prep–12 campus, delivering high-quality education and community benefits for generations to come.
