New Life For Historic Wooloowin Site As Community Park Opens And Construction Begins

11 September 2023

Construction is well underway on the first stage of townhomes within Greville, a visionary master-planned community in Wooloowin in Brisbane’s leafy inner north that blends heritage charm with contemporary architecture, abundant green spaces, and resident recreation zones.

Cedar Woods Development Director Blair Britton said construction of the first 12 townhomes commenced prior to the formal market launch in August and is progressing well.

“We look forward to welcoming our first residents in 2024,’’ he said.

“Commencing home building is a significant milestone and follows the completion of the large community park, which will open to the public in early September.

“The park design has preserved several mature trees to provide shade and features a children’s playground built to inspire the young imagination, as well as extensive landscaping and open greenspace that connects to the local neighbourhood.

“There has already been lots of interest in the opening of the playground from our neighbours and the families from the local school, so we are sure this area will be embraced by the Wooloowin community now and into the future.’’

Wooloowin is a warm and walkable neighbourhood, close to popular cafés, dining precincts, shopping centres and open spaces, with the Northern Brisbane Bikeway on its doorstep. The established suburb is also well connected to the Brisbane CBD, with access to the local train station just 400 metres away.

Over the coming years, Greville will transform the former Sisters of Mercy site into a vibrant, connected master-planned community, comprising over 250 townhomes and apartments with a community park, residents’ recreation zone and pool.

Builder, Greyburn, with a 30-year history of delivering premium residential projects across South-East Queensland, will construct the first release of townhomes, designed by award-winning national architect, Rothelowman.

Greyburn Director Aaron Hook said construction was progressing well on the prominent site.

“All in-ground services and the slab pour phase are now complete, with all the framing up,” he said.

“These first 12 residences are a mix of three-bedroom and three-bedroom plus multipurpose room townhomes, which are scheduled for completion late next year.

“They will adjoin the future pool and community recreation centre and are located less than 100 metres from the community park.”
