Development application lodged for initial Glenside site works

November 2016

Multi-award winning developer Cedar Woods Properties has lodged a development application with the South Australian Development Assessment Commission for initial site works for the planned $400 million Glenside development.

The works will pave the way for the 16-hectare site to be developed to provide approximately 1,000 new dwellings including low-mid rise apartments, townhouses and high quality landscaped public spaces in accordance with the approved master plan, developed through extensive community consultation over the past 12 months.

Initial site works will include the demolition of non-heritage listed buildings, remediation of the land and the consequential removal of selected trees (weed species, non-indigenous and planted indigenous varieties), construction of a sales centre and project office and the construction of a stormwater detention basin serving the wider catchment area including surrounding suburbs.

More than 400 new trees will be planted throughout the Glenside development to offset the trees being removed.

Heritage buildings on the site will be restored and integrated as part of broader plans for the development.

Mr Patrick Archer, Cedar Woods’ State Manager said the works were an important first step in delivering a high quality master planned community at Glenside and it was hoped approval would be granted in the coming months.

“Works will provide the foundation for the construction of future dwellings, landscaped open space, roads and walking trails,” said Mr Archer.

“Cedar Woods will be engaging South Australian-based contractors to undertake the works with a commitment to minimise noise and disruption to the local community.”

Cedar Woods is planning to start site works in early 2017 with completion of an onsite sales centre and project office due in the middle of the year to coincide with the release of the project’s first stage.
