Awards

Award-winning property developer Cedar Woods Properties Limited has been bestowed with no less than 11 esteemed awards, demonstrating national excellence in property development, design, environmental protection and rehabilitation, and creating communities.
Jostling for position in the trophy cabinet are several awards from the Urban Development Institute of Australia (UDIA), Housing Industry Association (HIA), Civil Contractors Association and Landscape, Design and Irrigation Awards.
Creating history by winning Cedar Woods’ first award was the hugely successful Port Mandurah Canals development. The recipient of the UDIA WA Award for ‘Best Residential Development Under 250 Lots’ in 1996, Port Mandurah Stage 2 also went on to win the Civil Contractors’ Association “Case Earth Award” and the UDIA ‘National President’s Award’ in 1997.
Comprising of 170 prestigious waterfront residential canal lots, Port Mandurah Stage 2 was recognised as the best residential development in Western Australia. Not only was it accredited as an environmentally friendly, first class development, the UDIA further acknowledged that its affordability and value add to the local community.
Cedar Woods was further commended on its attention to detail and innovative solutions to a wide range of engineering challenges which included:
- Provision of conservation and foreshore reserve areas;
- Provision of recreational opportunities while retaining resident privacy; and
- Preservation of 100-year-old trees and retention of the Sutton Family homestead and gravesite.
A highlight for Cedar Woods, and certainly the pinnacle of the Port Mandurah development, was winning the UDIA ‘National President’s Award’ – cementing its position as the best residential development in Australia.
Continuing the success of Port Mandurah, Cedar Woods designed and developed an equal, if not better, Stage 3 in 1999. Excelling in all areas, Stage 3 was an improved version of the national award winning Stage 2 and the result saw Cedar Woods receive its third UDIA Award for ‘Best Residential Development Under 250 lots’.
Leeward Port Mandurah, the final stage of the waterfront canal development, gave the company its fourth UDIA Award in the same category of ‘Best Residential Development Under 250 lots’. The multiple awards and achievement of Port Mandurah is indicative of the unparalleled quality and excellence to which Cedar Woods approaches every project.
Following on from the hugely successful Port Mandurah Canals development, Cedar Woods’ next foray into Mandurah’s idyllic waterfront living was Mariners Cove. An environmental masterpiece, some two hundred and thirty acres of Mariners Cove was set aside for conservation. This reserve went on to become internationally recognised as a sanctuary for dozens of species of waterbirds, many of which are on the endangered species list.
Recognising Cedar Woods’ innovative and advanced environmental initiatives, Mariners Cove was awarded the UDIA WA Award for ‘Environmental Excellence’ in 2002. The project then went on to win the coveted UDIA National Award for ‘Environmental Excellence’ in 2003.
A leading HIA GreenSmart developer, Cedar Woods has worked tirelessly to ensure all its developments are designed according to the ‘green’ principles of GreenSmart. One of the first and arguably one of the best HIA GreenSmart developments, Mariners Cove was awarded the inaugural HIA WA ‘GreenSmart Development of the Year’ in 2003.
Demonstrating Cedar Woods’ wide scope of excellence when it comes to estate designs, The Islands at Mariners Cove won the Landscape, Design and Irrigation Award for Excellence in the category of ‘Best Parks, Recreational Areas and POS’ during 2004. The award highlighted the innovative and aesthetic entrance park to The Islands – an attraction that has also proved extremely popular with the local community.
Then, in November 2004, Mariners Cove scooped yet another award, this time being judged ’Best Residential Development 250 or More Lots’ at the annual UDIA State Awards. The development then went on to win the same category at the 2005 UDIA National Awards, lifting their award tally to its current total of 11 and confirming the developer’s consistency in excellence.
